Chadwick Yates
Ambassador to Tanzia
A man of middle-height, built of muscles like an iron worker, and one of those few who can grow and blond beard. Yates is a firearms master, a quick study of languages, a bushcraft expert, and calculating diplomat.
He made a name for himself living among the tribes of the Sutherbury Outback, but his origins and family history are unknown.
Yates has no majikal training, and perhaps it is for the best. He possesses a darker side, a rage that takes hold of him in battle. He is said to have the dual nature of one who is as cool as a surgeon until the scale begins to tip against him, at which exact point only he becomes as volatile as nitroglycerin.
Thurston Sharp
Commander in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy
A distinguished sailor and honorable Cavendian gentleman, Sharp is the son of a decorated father, retired Vice Admiral Sharp. He is the product of a faultless career in the service of his nation. Having no stain upon his character or history, his mild, unselfish manner recommends him to handle the most sensitive commissions. Responsibility rests well on him, for he always puts others’ interests ahead of his own. Well-liked by nearly all who meet him, he is humble, reserved, and unassuming. He is not given to long spells of talking, preferring always to listen first to the speech of all others and consider a matter well before offering some pertinent observation. Being patriotic, he views the establishments of his country with respect, and he is not known to offer any offense.
Sharp is learned in all things nautical and pertaining to navigation, has taken an Officer’s training in majik, and is competent at giving orders and directing a ship’s brigade in peace or battle. He feels a tremendous responsibility to the lives of his men, and therefore does nothing unconventional or unproven unless all other resources have failed.
He is a man of learning and good speech, though not fond of language study, philosophy, classic literature, drama, the arts, or the like, having been educated at the Harbee Military Academy, which emphases practical astronomy, the sciences, mathematics, history, law, and politics. Though a reader of practical volumes when at sea, his delight when upon land is reading the daily newspaper, exempting of course the marriage announcements, matters of gossip connected with Cavendian nobility, and the Gardening section.
Strong and well-built, Sharp is singularly handsome, being both dark and just taller than average. He makes a gentleman’s attempt to shave and groom, even when making long treks in the wild.
In battle, Sharp is capable of gallantry far beyond the call of duty, though never will he do anything haphazard in the name of victory or patriotism. It is when his companions’ lives are in danger, or when done to save a friend, that he tosses aside concern for his own life and takes extreme actions, for nothing is more loathe to him than to abandon a friend or comrade in need. Indeed he has no love of danger, yet no danger is too great to deter him if it comes in the course of standing equal with his friend. He is not a proud man, but rather that sort of aristocratic gentleman whose honor is worth more than his life.
